Trucks and Teeth

Hi Jack! Another hot day. Walker was very content to play on his own today, so I took the opportunity to clean up around the house and bake some cake balls. Hey... a girl needs chocolate. Plus, you'll enjoy them when you're home this Thursday! Walker spent the majority of his day playing with his dump truck. See below:

Then things got kind of goofy before bed. Walker was climbing all over the place during this evening's teeth brushing marathon. Check out this little poser! In the photo below, he was playing peek-a-boo with himself in the mirror.

Then he turned up his inner Zoolander.

After Walker went to bed, the Smiths brought baby Mackey over to babysit me. Ann and Ashley headed out on their first evening away from Miss M. And as I write, I'm watching her fall seamlessly in and out of sleep. It's amazing that Walker was ever as little as her. (Sigh.) Hope you had a lovely Sunday. xo - Sarah

Saturday Heat

Jeeze it was a warm one today. Walker and I spent the morning doing some grocery shopping and then a nap. In the afternoon we headed to Wylie, Texas to meet with friends at a park. The park was very nice, but the heat made it pretty unbearable. Walker turned all shades of red (not from a burn, but from the temperature) and I was afraid he might get a little sun stroke. I know, I know... worry wart mother. Anyway, Alison and Aubrey agreed that their own back yard might make a better hang out for everyone. So we spent the remainder of the day enjoying a welcomed breeze in their back yard. The adults sat under an awning with baby Eleanor in comfy patio chairs drinking sweet tea, while Walker, Reid and Evelyn ran through sprinklers, snacked on goldfish and climbed around on the jungle gym. It was a really lovely time. (A special thanks to Reid for letting Walker wear your swim trunks.) The photo below is Walker's first attempt at drinking from a real cup.

Evelyn dragged out this awesome dump truck for Walker's enjoyment.

Evelyn strikes a pose. Walker, of course, is very interested in everything that Evelyn does.

Walker at the helm. Evelyn kept asking, "Where are you driving us Walker?"

Reid is such a cutie!

So is Evelyn!

Walker is a little nervous to ride the slide on his own so Aubrey helps him out.

As I was leaving Wylie, I got a call from the birth center. The Smiths saved the day yet again and sat with Walker until well after midnight while I tended to the newest Mom and Dad in Dallas. The wonderful part about my work is that I usually do it while Walker is sleeping. When he wakes up, he has no idea that I've been gone! Well, he might see the slightly delirious sleep deprived look in my eye, but he's not on to me yet. Jack, we miss you and can't wait to see you in 4 days!

Walker and Mackey

Oh Jack... we miss you and cannot wait to see you in 6 days!
Here's today's breakdown: Walker awoke around 8am today (yay!) and before spending our usual 10 minutes in bed he insisted on bringing "baby" with him. So here is Walker and his baby. I don't know what the baby's name is, but I'm sure Walker will let me know very soon.

It was great to talk to you this morning and Walker LOVED hearing your voice on the other end of the line. He is very cognizant of the fact that you are on the other end of the line. He's really figured out the phone thing.

Walker likes to pretend sleep. Here we are making a bed on the floor so Walker can take a fake nap.

We thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Anne and Mackey Smith. They came over for lunch.

Look! Mackey has a mohawk!

Walker was very interested in getting some face time with Mackey. She's really starting to focus on faces and interact. Walker wanted to do "This little piggy" over and over again with her feet.

Here's a video of Walker doing the "piggies". I love Mackey's sweet smiles while Walker tickles her feet and squeezes her toes. It doesn't get cuter than this, folks.

Walker wanted to try out the infant carrier. Hmmmm. He doesn't fit quite as well as he used to.

Thursday at the Spray Park

Walker spent the morning playing with his baby doll (a gift from Grandma Happy). As you can see, he carefully and methodically attended to all the important steps of infant care.
1. Feed the baby
2. Burp the baby
3. Kiss the baby
4. Put the baby to sleep
5. Throw the baby over your shoulderIt's Thursday! And you know what that means! Play date! I told my mom that we were meeting with our play group today and she said, "I tell people that Sarah goes out with her play group every Thursday - and they're so nice because they let Walker come too!" Its true... any mom will tell you the play group does as much good for them as it does for their kid. Today we headed off to a spray park in Allen. Very cool spot, loads of kids and tons of fun. I packed Walker's lunch and headed out the door around 9:45am.

Walker fell asleep on the way there.

But once we arrived on the scene, he was ready to go! I love this little golf hat that Jack picked up for Walker.

I love the look on Walker's face in the photo below. He looks like he's just hopped on his hog and is ready to rumble.

Walker stole Sophia's apple. But she didn't seem to mind.

Walker loved the wall of hand prints. He ran from hand to hand giving each one a high five shouting, "Yeah!".

We had to change out of our wet clothes before heading home. Walker wriggled away from me before I could get him in a diaper. He LOVES to be free and naked.

At home in the afternoon - our little man pulled out the crayons for some art time.

Walker stayed up a little late tonight to meet Shannon, a PCPA friend who is currently working in Fort Worth on a school tour with the Kennedy Center. He really put on a show and even tried kissing her! He's a professional flirt. Jack, you are missed and frequently asked for. "Dada? Dada?"
