Multicultural Carnival

Last Thursday, Skyview Elementary hosted a multicultural carnival on campus. Walker and the kindergarten class did some Irish Dances and even asked the mamas to get involved!

After the group dancing and a quick stop at the cafeteria for Elote and Tosdadas, Daddy and Charlie went home while Walker explored the game rooms and petting zoo.

And the cherry on top was a trip in the Human Hamster Ball!

Birthday Trip to the Nature & Science Museum

Instead of the usual party, Walker wanted to spend his sixth birthday with a special friend at the Perot Museum. He wanted a day to himself with a buddy followed by lunch and some time to play. Jack and I were so relived as we're both a little tired of kid parties. Walker chose to take Spencer, a boy from his kindergarten class who lives five houses down the street from us. The boys had a marvelous time and so did Mama. Daddy stayed home with Charlie who is a little under the weather today. But this provided an opportunity for Walker to have some time and space all to himself, which turned out to be just what the doctor ordered.

First the boys built a "scribble bot", a robot made from a plastic cup and markers.

Then the boys visited the light wall.

Then the boys went to the plant biology center and took a closer look at vegetables.

Then we spent some time exploring the sounds and smells of animals native to Texas.

Walker and Spencer had a great time in the engineering section of the museum.

And then we spent time with the dinosaurs and birds.
Both of the boys did a simulated flight as a hawk with 3D glasses! So cool!

Then outside for some playtime before heading to the cafeteria for lunch.

Best buds!
Happy birthday Walker!

November at the Arboretum

It's our favorite time of year in Dallas - Sweet November! The boys and I headed to the Arboretum this morning to tour the pumpkin patch before it's gone. The weather was cool and the sun was shining. Here are some shots from our outing:
