"Friends are cool"

Walker's words after a day spent with two awesome baby pies. We spent Monday caring for two very special kiddos. Of course our Miss Mackey was with us, but we also had the pleasure of Gavin's company. I always thought that taking care of more children than you have arms is probably not a good idea. But, hey, it worked out! I had a very surreal moment during this day of baby care when I realized that I was in the room when each of these three little beings came into the world. I was the one who took their first photos and I was the first person who sat with them when their parents went out. Its kind of crazy, no? As you can see below, Walker loves Gavin's hair. While Walker was petting his head, he kept saying "very nice hair". His grandmother is a hair stylist, what do you expect?

All Abaord

One of Jack's colleagues gifted these train ornaments to Walker. Walker decided that they were "too cool" to put on the tree. Here's our little engineer working the rails.

Grad Night

We had Jack's grad students over for dinner last week. It was a blast to host so many young artists in our home. They were the most enchanting group of people, provided ample sparkling conversation and devoured every last morsel of food in the house. I love students! Walker was, of course, the star of the show and he seemed, at times, to be holding court. He was especially interested in these attentive cutie pies. What a ham.

Baby Its Cold Outside

Yay, its Friday! Dad's day off. Jack and Walker spent the morning riding the rails and scouting out vacant play parks. Why are there no other people in these photos? Because its cold. Really cold. Its been in the 20's this week, and when you add that stiff prairie breeze - ouch! Here's our boy snug as a bug waiting for the train to come.

Just a few shots from last night's play time. Walker is now building tunnels, train stations, loading docks and turn styles all by himself. Its pretty awesome.

A little Christmas color!

Santa, trains, a black eye and a surprise!

We had a beautiful day off together. As you may have seen in the news, Dallas is expecting snow and the temps were in the 30's all day long. Brrrrr! But that didn't stop us. Jack had the day off and we headed to North Park with our play group pals for some time with Santa. Here are the kiddos getting ready for Santa to appear and tell stories!

Walker got bored waiting for the big guy, partially because he has no idea who Santa is in the first place. So Daddy and Walker hit the escalators for some homemade fun.

After our time with Santa, we went to see the train exhibit, which is the largest of its kind in the state of Texas. Walker is train crazy, so this was a BIG hit.

We walked around the mall for a while and listened to school choirs and orchestras playing their best Christmas pieces. It was really heart warming. Walker didn't want to leave the musicians and said, "So beautiful music!" Indeed!

Walker had a bit of a fall a few days ago. He dove head-first onto our hardwood floor, which left a pretty good bump on his upper right forehead. But yesterday, this shiner appeared. Poor guy. He really got banged up. There is no denying that this little Donka-Head is all boy.

After our Christmas extravaganza, we headed across town to interview a midwife. Yes, a midwife! We are pregnant and expecting baby number two somewhere around the first of August! We are totally over the moon. Walker is going to be a marvelous big brother - don't you think? So, that's our big news! Stay tuned...

Snow Day

Here are a few shots of Jack and Walker playing "cars" in bed this evening after Jack got home from work. Mostly these two goof balls bond by snuggling up, wrestling and making motor sounds with their mouths. It's pretty awesome to watch.




We had a light snow on Wednesday, which began with neighborhood ducks congregating on our lawn. They looked pretty chilly. Then the snow really got going and left a nice coating that lasted a few hours. Such fun to have snow so early in the winter!
