Funny Face

Rule number one for keeping your son happy and entertained? Make a funny face! Here are some shots of my favorite dynamic duo and then some solo shots of Daddy putting on a show! All the world loves a clown!

While You Were Sleeping

Hi Walker... Sounds like you had a great time hanging with Abbey. You're always so good for sitters! How did we end up with such a great kid? I know you wonder where we go, so Dad and I thought we'd give you a little peek at "date night". We left you with Miss Abbey and drove to our hotel in Oak Cliff - a retro motor inn near the Bishop Arts District.

From the Belmont, we headed to West Village for a viewing of "Slumdog Millionaire" (which won best picture this year at the Oscars) at The Magnolia.

After our movie, we drove up to the Knox Henderson area for tapas at a Spanish restaurant called Sangria. The food was awesome and we had a great evening over a pitcher of Sangria.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel bar for a nightcap. The Belmont is on the south side of the Trinity River and has a great view of the Dallas skyline! The night was warm and breezy. Perfect for sitting on the patio.
We had a good night's sleep and spent the following morning having breakfast at the Cliff Cafe. I tried grits for the first time and your Dad and I shared some sweet potato pancakes. Yummers! When we got home you were happily playing in your room with Abbey. You had books strewn everywhere and a big smile on your face. Thank you for spending the night with Abbey and letting us get out for a night on the town! WE LOVE YOU!

Room With A Veiw

A gray humid Monday here in Dallas. Jack is on Spring Break from SMU, so the three of us are spending the day at home. These kind of days are the best! Walker spent the majority of the afternoon in his room, playing in front of the window, on the look-out for cars and trucks. Walker is also on a big reading kick right now. Whenever there is a lull in the action, he toddles off to fetch a book. His current favorites are "On the Night You Were Born", "On the Farm" - a book from Grandma Connie about farm equipment and a Sandra Boynton book called "The Going to Bed Book".

Here is a video of Walker reading to Jack and me.

The Conspirators

Walker spent yesterday afternoon at the Dallas Zoo with some of our favorite one-year-old pals and their mamas. I forgot my camera, but a friend snapped these shots of the boys in front of the elephant exhibit. (There always seem to be three conspirators in Shakespeare's plays.) The elephant is obviously out of the shot. Walker was setting a great example by climbing the fence.

Table Manners

We picked up a cool little IKEA table for Walker this week. I painted it green - sort of a dill pickle color. Walker has been loving all the kid-sized furniture at the homes of his play pals so we thought it was time he have his very own table. Today he enjoyed lunch like a big kid. No high chair. No shoulder straps. No "One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest" style dinning! We're not doing away with the highchair just yet, but we are enjoying this big step for our big boy.
