Scotland Part 2

Another beautiful day in Scotland. We took off for the sandy beach of Frasierburg - a nearby fishing town. Walker began the morning clothed, but as is his way when he sees the ocean, he was soon enjoying the full monty.

Pa John introduced Walker to the famous Lambie 'helicopter'.

And here was the scene just before bed tonight!

Here are some photos from Wednesday - we visited the aquarium in Banff. Walker was very impressed and so were we. Its a really wonderful aquarium!

Scotland Part 1

Walker was a gem on the airplane. Three flights, 13 hours and very little sleep could have been a recipe for disaster. Instead he was great and only mildly churlish on occasion- which for two and a half, I'll take any day. Here we are en route to Gardenstown, Scotland.

Walker's first glimpse of the harbour below Pa John's house. 'Look at all the boats!' was his first exclamation.

Pa John knows how to delight a little boy. When we're not out of doors, this is where you can find Walker. Any time I ask him if he'd like to eat or go out or read something he says, 'No thank you. I'm fine on my bike.'

On our first full day, we headed for the beach at Banff. It was a stunning day, 70 degrees and no breeze. This is Scotland?

Sunset on our second night at 10pm.

Today, after Pa John came home from work (teaching at nearby Troup House), we took a short 40 minute drive to Huntly Castle. Walker was thrilled and spent the entire self guided tour saying, 'Oh My!'

A field of Saffron and a brewing storm on the way home. Wow!

Rub-a-Dub

Walker had a great time tonight. We had an unexpected visitor. Michelle, a friend of mine from DAM, got caught without a babysitter for her daughter so we took her for the evening. The kids were both excited about bath time and had a blast pouring water on each other with drinking cups. Here are some fun shots of the kids getting silly.

Getting the Giggles

Walker and Mackey had quite the giggle-fest today while negotiating who would sit in the comfy chair. Looks like Mackey won.

Gettin' Warm

It is very warm today, so we spent most of the afternoon on our back patio in various states of undress. Walker let me snap some shots throughout his play and conversation. We're also in the process of potty training and being sans diaper is a big help! P.S. Happy Birthday Grandma Happy!

Portrait

Jack and I went out tonight to see a concert at the Arboretum. Walker stayed home with Ashley Smith, Jack's colleague and artist extraordinaire. We came home to find this quick crayon portrait of Walker. I wasn't able to scan the whole thing because of its large size. What you cannot see is that Walker is driving a steam engine. Isn't it wonderful? Thank you, Ashley, its perfect!
