Happy Mother's Day, Mom.

"If the whole world were put into one scale, and my mother in the other, the whole world would kick the beam."
- Henry Bickersteth

Dear Mama - the time you have spent with Walker is so precious to me. Thank you for being with us every step of the way. We love you so very much. Here are some of my favorites of you and Lil'D over the past 18 months. Happy Mother's Day always.

Here's a late addition:
This morning, after having our Mother's Day breakfast of blueberry pancakes, Walker wanted to "see na baby", which means view his blog. We do this every morning. Grandma Happy's mother's day tribute popped up and he yelled, "Happy!" Jack caught the rest on video. Happy Mother's Day, Mama... your grandson joins me in wishing you a beautiful day.

Arts Academy

Dallas was super humid today, so we opted for some indoor activities. Walker took a crack at the crayola box and then finished off with a turn at the piano. His word for both piano and banana is "manana". Hey, works for me!

Here's a video of our little man at the keys:

On the street where you live.

We have just returned from visiting the Alexandria Greenmans! We spent five rainy days in Aunt Maura's dreamy new home enjoying the sweet and rambunctious company of Walker's fabulous east coast cousins. Thanks to Maura, Gil, Quinn, Jacqueline and Julia for your amazing hospitality, love and laughter. Here is a whirlwind account of our time in Virginia. (Psst... its a little image heavy. I apologize in advance to those of you on dial-up.)

This is far and away my favorite footage of Walker ever.

Gil and Walker find a bicycle in the neighbor's yard. Walker has just learned to say "wheel" and cannot get enough of these spinning wonders.

Maura took Jack, Walker and I on a walk through old town while the kids were in school. I can't remember what was so funny...

Late nights in the kitchen with Gil and Jack are not to be missed. Dumb jokes abound!

The girls help with Walker's bath and bed time routine.

Video one: Julia reading to Walker in bed. Does it get any sweeter than this?

Video two: "This Little Piggy" in stereo sound makes Walker squeal.

Aunt Maura and Walker get some face time on the staircase. This was Walker's favorite part about Maura's new home. We probably killed a whole day going up and down the stairs. Luckily, we had all hands on deck to catch him at the bottom.

Richard, Annie Lou and Katie were in town for the weekend and spent an evening with us! It was fantastic to finally meet the rest of the Vermont clan! Here's a family picture of the whole gang:

Out for a walk in between the May showers.

Maura's back yard is a wonderland of Azaleas, Camellias, Hydrangea, Rhododendrons, Dogwood and Sugar Maples. I was in heaven. We spent lots of time in the back yard playing with the dogs, putting on skits and playing improv games. I will never forget Julia pantomiming taxidermy on a bear while Jacqueline pretended to have a baby in the background. What a riot.

This is Dozer.

This is Bonnie.

And on a final note:
Today is my mom's birthday!
Happy Birthday, Grandma Happy!
We miss you.

your kiddos
