As usual, we spent the evening at our neighborhood block party. Walker, who dressed as a ninja, played games, took a spin in the bounce house and we all enjoyed a hot dog dinner and a coke. Fire Chief Charlie really enjoyed the loud music played by a local DJ. The Monster Mash, the Ghostbuster's Theme and Thriller really got Charlie grooving!

Charlie Ringing Joel's Temple Bell
Joel gave me this bowl shaped meditation bell two Christmases ago. I love it so much. I've been ringing it a lot lately. Charlie really loves the sound and asked this morning if he could ring it himself. I was more than happy to share.

California for Joel's Memorial
This is a blog for my sons. I want them to be able to look back at what they did and what they looked like and how they interacted with the world. I haven't been able to write it here for some reason - the news of Joel's passing. It's been too hard. I don't know what to say.
But this weekend, the four of us went to California for his memorial. Walker attended the memorial and walked through the confusing process of loosing a beloved uncle. It's part of his story now, as it is Charlie's. So, here are some photos, in no particular order, from our beautiful but difficult trip to my home, California's Central Coast.
