The Power of Friendship

The boys and I spent the day with Alison, Aubrey, Chris, Lucas, Evelyn, Reid, Eleanor, Maximus and Augustus Power. Even Grandma Gail stopped by for lunch. It was a marvelous morning and early afternoon. The kids were loud, Walker was a mess, Charlie cried himself to sleep, water was spilled on the couch, and everyone had a really lovely time.

I can't emphasize how important the Power Family is to the Greenman Family. When I take note of all the wonderful things about living in Dallas, these extraordinary people are at the top of my list. They have been an incredible support for us in the darkest of times and always there to celebrate the most joyous of occasions. We're the luckiest people on earth to have the Powers as friends.  Dear, dear friends.  Aubrey snapped these two spectacular photos of Charlie while he was showing off his newest and most miraculous trick. Every time I look at these two photos, I bawl.

And here are a few more from the day...

The Kenna Cup 2012

We've just finished one of the biggest weekends our family has ever had.  The 2012 Kenna Cup Golf Tournament was astonishing in every way possible.  It was overwhelming to see the droves of people, which included golfers, sponsors, volunteers, sports personalities, bands, food vendors, bar tenders, parachuters, public servants, radio broadcasters and past Kenna's Kids families, all there to support the cause and the three 2012 beneficiaries.  Some of the highlights: Walker's first time using a golf club, the professional long drive champion who single-handedly raised 18,000 dollars on the course during the three tournaments, and meeting the extraordinary families, past and present, who have been assisted by Kenna's Kids. There are no words to describe our family's gratitude.  Thank you seems inadequate, but its all we have.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Kenna Cup took over the entire Frisco Lakes golf course and club house for two days!

Here are the three primary beneficiaries of the 2012 Kenna Cup with Kenna - the sweet red-head who started it all!
Charlie Greenman, Makenna Johnson, Kenna Kucholz, and Grayson Hughes.

Mommy showing Walker how to putt.  Ooops, she missed.
Walker followed with "Mommy, I'll do it on my own because I want my ball to go IN the hole."

He's a natural.

Victory smile!

Another sunk putt.  This kid is GOOD!

Perfecting his putt.

I loved this sponsor sign with the vodka sign above the kids' heads!

Kenna's Kids knows how to ride!

Only Walker could make golf into a roll-on-the-ground-and-dive-for-the-ball contact sport.

Happy dance!

Mommy and Charlie enjoy an iced lemonade in the shade.

Happy boy!

After 20 minutes of putting in the heat, our little golf champion needs a treat.

At the awards banquet, Jake Brigham -the pitcher for the Rough Riders (our favorite minor league
baseball team) - came over to show his support for Charlie. The night before, the Rough Riders hosted their
own fundraiser for Kenna's Kids and raised 4,000 dollars!  Jake signed a baseball for Walker!

Aunt Mary, Uncle John and cousins Steve and Mike drove down from Kansas City to play the cup!
Aunt Mary was a volunteer and ran the beer tent for the morning tournament!

Pa Obbie and Grandma Happy flew in from Oregon to play the tournament!

And Pa John flew the farthest of any golfer to play the Kenna Cup!

Chatting with Pa John.

Proud Papas.

While Walker bounced in the structure behind us, we took some family photos.

Walker was bummed that the wind was too high for a hot air balloon ride.  Next year buddy!

Daddy, Pa John and Cousin Steve watch Walker jump in the bounce house.

Waiting for the ball drop.

A plane flew overhead just as the ball drop concluded and four parachuters came soaring towards us!  It was spectacular!

Safe landing!  Walker was worried there for a minute that these guys wouldn't make it.

Kenna's Kids past and present.  What a beautiful group of kiddos!

Matt Kucholz and his daughter, Kenna, kick off the evening.

Kenna's Kids filled this banquet hall three times in the past two days.  Amazing.

I'll post more later... what a whirlwind!

Father's Day

This morning we were up early with Charlie. And Walker followed shortly after.  Its been over a week since Walker procured Jack's Father's Day gift.  He has been waiting patiently for the day to arrive when Jack could open his gifts.  He was very good - he didn't give hints or talk about the gifts at all!

Walker chose, for the first time this year, his own Father's Day goodies for Jack: a frisbee, a soft ball and a super man tee-shirt. So Jack opened gifts and Walker was thrilled with the whole event. After some coffee and quiche, we all headed out to play with Daddy's new toy and take a drive up the canyon.  Here are the photos from our morning!

SUPER DAD!

Someone had to be carried back to the car!

Walker wanted to take our photo - pretty good for a short guy.

A bit windy at the top!

Happy Father's Day all!
