Charlie Got a Haircut

Charlie's hair was so long it was getting in his eyes so I gave him a little trim the other night.  He's looking so much like a little boy these days.  (Sigh.)

First Time on the Swings

Last weekend, we took the boys to a windy hill top park in the White Rock area.  Charlie was eyeing the swings as Walker ran off to try out the slide.  My first thought was "Oh, Charlie is still too floppy for the swings."  Then I thought, "Hell... who cares.  Let's see how he does."

He was delighted.
Completely delighted.

"I saw it on the TV"

Charlie and I watched on as Walker tied himself to the tree in our backyard with the laundry line.  I kept thinking, "What in the world is he doing?"  Then I watched him climb the tree and propel down the trunk with the laundry line as his rope hold.  Needless to say, it didn't work.  A few scrapes and a good cry and everyone was alright.  I asked, "Honey, where did you get that idea?"  Well... the title of this post was his answer.

... and Jack took these sweet photos be me and Charlie Bear.

Captain Walker St-Ahrrrrrr

Once we were dressed we set sail for the Preston Royal Pre-School Carnival.  Its one of their big fundraisers for the kids.  We had some pizza while Walker took a spin on the bounce house, threw a few ring tosses and chowed on some sugary treats.

Dallas Fire and Rescue brought a big truck and Walker couldn't resist!
Have you ever seen a pirate fireman?

Them Bones

Charlie is getting in the spirit for Halloween.

Carousel

In the past, Walker has insisted on riding the stationary sled on the carousel.  It doesn't have that scary up and down motion and there isn't the danger of falling off.  But things have changed.  Walker is now ready for the big leagues and insisted last week to ride "a really big horse that moves".  He also asked to do it alone and without the immediate supervision of an adult.  Its hard to pretend that you're jousting when your father is holding your hand.  Ride on, Walker!

Saturday Sunshine

We had a beautiful Saturday morning at the park.  Walker took his bike and helmet for a cruise or two or three or eight around the park.  There is no keeping up with him now.  As soon as he is behind the handle bars, he's off like a shot!  While Walker raced about, Charlie relaxed under a tree and let me snap photos of his pretty face.

...and then it was time to rest.

First Word

Yesterday, Charlie said:

I was putting him in his carseat.
I said, "Charlie!  Hi!"
and he just repeated it plain and simple.
"Hi."

I about fell over.

Movie Night

Charlie likes to sit propped up in the center of the couch where the crease in the pillows can steady his balance.  Jack caught these photos tonight while the boys enjoyed the Stuart Little movie, which if you haven't seen - don't bother.

Harold and the Snot Machine

The other day, Walker drew a picture and then told the tale of his drawing.  It was of a boy named Harold who had a runny nose.  And the offending mucus could only be extracted with a scary snot machine.  Then Harold wasn't scared any more because his mother rescued him with a kleenex.  I think Walker has been watching us clear Charlie's nose with the bulb syringe.  Scary stuff indeed!
