Scotland Finale
Our last day in Scotland with Pa John - boo hoo. We're both so sad to leave - its been the most wonderous trip. Today we went to Aden Park for a trip through the farming museum, a picnic, a nature walk and an ice cream cone. Then we headed to Willows Farm - a shelter for forgotten and mistreated animals. Walker spent the evening with Dad's sainted neighbor, Polly, who offered to babysit. We went out for a movie (Robin Hood) and dinner in Aberdeen. A wonderful end to a wonderful visit. Here are some goodies from the day.

Scotland Part 7
Out on the harbour at 9pm - low tide. Beautiful ending to a stormy, blustery day. Where is Walker, you may ask? Sound asleep in the Salmon House which Pa John, Jack the dog and I take a stroll. Don't worry, we left his window ajar so we could hear him if he awakened. But all we could hear were seagulls and bouys.

Scotland Part 6
Saturday afternoon! Today we visited Delgaty Castle (20 minutes from Dad's house) and the small neighboring fishing village of Crovie. I was smitten with Crovie's lovely mix of purple and yellow wild flowers growing in the rocky seaside cliffs. Here are some sweet shots from the day.
A friendly pony Walker met at Delgaty.
A great view of Gardenstown from the Crovie harbor.
Overlooking the Gamrie Bay from high above Crovie.
You can see the one-lane road into the little sea town.

Scotland Part 5
A quick post tonight... We spent the evening at the opening of the Banff Arts Festival, which will run all weekend. We met up with some of Dad's friends at a concert of local musicians on traditional folk instruments. Walker was thrilled with the music, the company and the food. Walker is pictured below with Nell and Sandy (in the the kilt), both locals from Gardenstown.

Scotland Part 4
We're home from a three day, two night trip to the West Cast of Scotland. It's been a magical three days, which culminated in a much anticipated train ride. Here's the house on the day we set out and a little Viking, ready to meet the road!

First stop was Castle Urquhart on Lock Ness. Walker was very taken with the Trebuchet, which of course is a massive tool for stone throwing - a sport that Walker loves.

Pa John and Walker are looking at a duo of fighter jets that were roaring down the loch.
Then a trip through Glen Coe, one of the most beautiful and trecherous places in West Scotland and also site of the MacDonald Massacre. I've been waiting to visit this place for a long time.
This is a memorial cairn to the slain clan MacDonald.
Walker throwing stones... what's new?
One of the MacDonald houses still standing.
On the road the next morning near Loch Lomond. Walker stole my cone.

Scottish seals!

After our boat trip, we needed another ice cream cone! Here we are sharing our cone in the back of Pa John's car.
More stone throwing on a tidal inlet near our B&B in Fort William.
