Yesterday, Grandma Patty, Grandpa John, Jack, Walker and I took advantage of a gloriously beautiful day by going to the Fort Worth Stockyards. We got a big slice of real Texas and bif whiff of real long horn cattle! We spoke with a few coyboys, watched a cattle drive, visited the Stockyards museum and of course checked out the railway! Here's a little taste of our day:
Alison Power - dear friend, client and fellow pregnant mama (we're due a week apart from each other) - saved the day this past Saturday. Jack and I were off to a birthing class and in desperate need of day care. Alison to the rescue with her amazing children Evelyn, Reid and Eleanor. They spent the afternoon at our home playing, snacking and sharing toys. Here are some of the WONDERFUL photos Alison snapped while we were out. Thank you so much Power Family!
Here are Walker and Betsy in bed on the morning before her departure. They were playing "night night". Oh Betsy, we miss you already! Just click on the arrow to see a video of their antics. On a separate note: Today Walker was looking through a Thesaurus, which he called "The Bible" (That's my boy!) and after some consideration, said, "Come Boy is a better book." (Come Boy is his title for Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree".)
Everyday, Walker looks forward to having Miss Mackey over to the house for day care. I'm sure he thinks she comes over purely for his own entertainment. She is doing all sorts of new and exciting things like crawling, kneeling, talking, etc. Whenever she performs a new feat he says, "Well, that's new!".
...and a video of Walker and Mackey playing a little Simon Says.
Our resident ducks have been sorely neglected these past few days. They've been pecking around in the snow for food and hiding under the trees to avoid frigid winds. This morning a few ducks ventured over to our lawn, looked in our front window and made sad, desperate faces. I think one saw me making lunch and gave me the bird. So, tonight, after dinner, we took a bag of bread out to the starving scavengers.
